For the Hiller Aviation Museum, HQA was challenged to reorganize the museum's circulation in order to improve the entry sequence for the varying user populations. By providing two design options, one of which phased over time, HQA was able to demonstrate to the Museum's board the range of options before them that would not only meet their immediate needs but also future ones for the next several years. By expanding the design focus from the entry sequence to the rest of the museum, HQA developed solutions that maximized the use of space through simple changes as well as took into consideration and so accommodated future needs. This allowed us to solve concurrently Hiller Aviation's entry circulation for their multiple user groups and their need for more storage and additional offices, as well as introduce the concept of increased food service and flexibility for any unforeseen changes that may be required down the road. In addition, HQA was able to upgrade their leasable entertainment space into a captivating venue of clean lines and great views. By repositioning the Museum's theater, HQA was able to gain the existing adjacent courtyard as additional entertainment space and the view beyond of the neighboring airport. While this view brings new vitality to the entertainment space, additional exhibition space within the entry sequence does the very same for the Museum's many visitors.
